• The 2021 AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour kicks off appropriately in Atlanta, as the first domestic event following the Tokyo Olympics is being held in the same city where beach volleyball made its Olympic debut back in 1996
• Top seeded Phil Dalhausser / Nick Lucena lost their first round match to #16 (Q12) Michael Groselle / David Vander Meer... the last time a men's #1 seed lost to a #16 seed was in Austin 2019, when #1 Taylor Crabb / Jake Gibb lost to Paul Lotman / Gabriel Ospina... Crabb / Gibb came back to win 6 straight matches to capture the tournament title
