Tournament Notables:
- This week’s AVP event features 20 players who have played in the Olympics (either indoors or on the beach). Players here have competed for three different countries.
- The men have a total of 109 teams registered (85 in the qualifier, 24 in the main draw), which is one more than last year. This marks the 36th men’s AVP event with at least 100 teams.
- There are 94 women’s teams competing this weekend, which is the most of any AVP event since the 2019 Manhattan Beach Open (96 teams that tournament) and is the seventh most ever in AVP history and third most ever in Manhattan Beach (98 in 2009, 96 in 2019).
- Each of the last 6 Manhattan Beach Open men’s title matches has featured at least one Crabb brother, and Phil Dalhausser has advanced to the finals here nine times previously.
- The men who have previously earned a plaque who are competing this weekend include Tri Bourne, Taylor Crabb, Trevor Crabb, Phil Dalhausser and Taylor Sander.
- The women’s players competing here who already have a place on the pier are Betsi Flint, Sara Hughes, Alix Klineman, Kelley Kolinske, and April Ross.
